Friends of Earth Indonesia (FOEI) and WWF urge rich nations to be responsible for the climate havoc caused by their greediness in consuming fossil energy. “There should be a sharp cut on emission from rich nations who pollute the atmosphere with GHG emission,” said Stephanie Long, FOEI Coordinator (4/12)
According to Stephanie, rich nations should pay their ecological debts to the developing countries. “This means they have to renew their technology, improve energy efficiency, and most importantly, lessen their self-indulgence in product and service production,” she stated.

Not only cut their emission sharply, rich nations have to help developing countries to adapt from the climate change. “This aid, naturally, not in the new debt scheme or carbon trading, moreover as a shape of rich nations’ responsibility who already damage climate system by their production and consumption pattern,” he stated.

Earlier before, WWF International also stated similar opinion. “Rich nations should prove their sincerity in mitigating GHG emission,” said Dr Stephan Singer, WWF Europe Climate Change Programme Coordinator (3/12).
